#WeNeedAShift | A Whirlwind Week of Agroecology Advocacy with Emile Frison

USC Canada led a campaign that brought one of the world's foremost experts on biodiversity and food systems to Canada in early June. And did we ever spend a lot of time on Parliament Hill.

USC Canada led a campaign that brought one of the world's foremost experts on biodiversity and food systems to Canada in early June.

Dr. Emile Frison is a member of the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food) and lead author of the panel's report "From Uniformity to Diversity." The report outlines why a shift in the way we produce the world's food is urgently needed – and how food producers, consumers, governments and businesses can accelerate this shift.

We need a shift toward agroecology, a way of growing food that respects nature and biodiversity, and uses both time-tested wisdom and science to strengthen the resilience of our food system. USC Canada's network of partners, farmers, seed savers and international allies are part of a growing agroecology movement.

We, with our partners, brought Emile here to help make the case for a shift in the way we grow our food here in Canada. Check out the gallery below for a snapshot of the week we had!
